Hotel Interior Design in Bath, blending references to classic city and country living.
The first hotel designed to express a lifestyle evoked in "Country Living" magazine, while offering guests the facilities and flexibility expected for 21st century relaxation.
We softened the traditional hierarchy of spaces between front and back of house, to create a more welcoming and informal guest experience.
Interiors in association with Oliver Redfern Design & Country Living Magazine.
The Lansdown Grove Hotel in Bath occupies a historic building built in true Georgian style and from traditional Bath stone. It offered a very fitting backdrop for a brand rooted in English traditional living, but presented challenges to refurbishment. Our finishes palette blended airy Palladian shades with more earthy, countryside hues while designs for the bar & other joinery and the various furniture, fabrics and lighting, maintained clear references to heritage.
It was really interesting to re-invigorate these classical Georgian spaces, while subverting their traditional strict social heirachy. Their proportions have an innate grandeur that doesn’t encourage the sense of ease and relaxation that today’s visitors want and expect.
They also put me in mind of Georgian townhouses in Old Portsmouth and therefore much of the interior design near me.
